My PC won’t start. What should I check first? First, you need to distinguish between two scenarios: Is the PC receiving any power at all, i.e. do the lights come on (though perhaps without a proper start) – or is there no reaction at all when switching it on?Some motherboards have their own power button on the board. That button has the same function as the one on front panel of the chassis. The onboard button helps to rule out problems with the front panel wiring.Please check whether the PC can be switched on using this onboard power button.Many motherboards also have a status display with a code output. If the PC starts up briefly and then switches itself off again, the very last debug code on this status display is particularly important.Instructions:Press the onboard power button on the motherboard.Note down or photograph the last debug code before the system switches off.Test the RAM modules individually or in smaller configurations.Take a photo of the original RAM configuration before re-inserting them.When testing individually, follow the slot order recommended by the motherboard's user manual.If, however, there is no reaction at all (no status LEDs, no fan activity) when pressing the power button:Make sure the power cable is firmly, fully plugged into the power supply unit (PSU).Check the power switch on the PSU: a line means "on", a circle means "off".Check the socket, power strip and the mains fuse in your room or house.
