How can I restore your BIOS tuning after a BIOS update?

Depends on the motherboard and the update, BIOS updates may reset certain or all BIOS settings. Also, it is generally recommended to perform a BIOS reset after BIOS updates – this reset will definitely set settings back to the mainboard vendor's factory defaults. So you will need to check certain settings before and after:

  • RAM: Selecting the XMP or EXPO profile.
  • Reloading or selecting any customised fan profiles.
  • Checking other performance-related settings.

For motherboards whose BIOS setup offers a corresponding import/export function (this applies to almost all motherboards; the only exceptions at present are AMD Threadripper models), the settings are also saved as a BIOS profile file on a USB stick provided with the motherboard.

Alternatively, you can also take a photo of the relevant menus yourself before a BIOS update or a BIOS reset, or export a current profile. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact our support team.
