Do I need to worry about the 12VHPWR connector?

There has been a lot of fuss in the past about the 12VHPWR connector on some high-end graphics cards. We can report that we have had absolutely no support or quality issues since the introduction of this connector. The reason for this is, of course, that we plug this connector in really firmly and securely at the end of our assembly process and check its fit once again after the stress tests.

Nevertheless, it can't hurt to check this connector once more after receiving a new PC and, if necessary, press it firmly into the socket again if there are any doubts as to whether it is truly secure.

However, when it comes to DIY upgrades or if you need to remove the GPU or GPU's power cable for any reason, this connector deserves special attention. It must be fully inserted, sit straight and show no visible gap between plug and socket. The cable must not be under tension or sharply bent directly at the connector.

Do not operate the system if the connector does not appear to be fully seated. Do not operate the system if the connector or socket shows signs of heat, discolouration, deformation or mechanical damage.
